Google Ads

Get anything found on Google, even the mythical unicorn

At Ginger Pickle, we're big fans of Google Ads (formally Google AdWords). So much so that we've spent years and years using the platform, figuring out ways to optimise advertising spend. Some companies may think that spending their marketing budget on newspaper or radio ads is the best way to go, it can be if you're a big enough brand. However, most businesses are not national names.

With Google Ads, you don't need to hire any boxing announcers or morning TV show hosts to stand out, just a really good Google Ads agency.

All you need to do is tell us what service or product you provide, we come up with what people are searching for and we put your products and services in front of those people.

For example, say you are in the "Unicorn" business (they must exist, somewhere!). Your customer base is people who believe in unicorns, so they search "I want to buy a unicorn for Christmas". Through the power of paid advertising, your company will appear in the search results on Google.

There are, of course, many places your Google Ads can appear in Google, this includes search ads, shopping ads on the search results page and the shopping tab; on YouTube, in Google Discovery and on websites through display ads.

Setting up a Google Ads campaign can be time consuming and confusing if you're not familiar with the Google Ads interface, but Ginger Pickle is here to help save you time, money and get great results!

FAQ's

What is Google Ads and how does it work?

Google Adwords was re-branded to Google Ads in 2018. The reason for the change was that Adwords just described search ads (also known as text ads), but Google was offering much more than this. Google Ads much better describes everything that is included in the product offering such as YouTube, Search, Shopping, Display and Discovery.

Google Ads works as a real-time auction. You specify the keywords and/or audience you want to put your adverts in front of and if you win the auction, your ad is displayed.

Is there a monthly fee for Google Ads?

There isn’t a monthly fee for Google Ads, you only pay for the inventory you use. What you pay will depend on the channel you are using and how much you are willing to pay for clicks. The cost per click can depend on the industry you are in, the competition for that keyword, the intent of the keyword and how relevant your ad and website landing page is to that keyword.

If your search or shopping ads show but are not clicks you don’t pay anything as you only pay per click. This is different with display, YouTube and discovery ads where you pay for the ad being shown.

Does Google Ads charge daily or monthly?

You set an average daily budget to spend depending on what you can afford and what you want to achieve. You and set and edit your daily budget at any time. Google will optimise your spending for the days when you are most likely to get clicks or conversions. Some days you will spend more and others less, but the total monthly spend will even out over the month. To calculate how much you will spend daily from a monthly budget, divide the total monthly budget by 30.4 (the average number of days in a month over a year).

Can I do Google Ads myself?

Yes! You can definitely learn to run Google Ads campaigns yourself. Google offers a smart mode for beginners and an expert mode for more experienced users. If you have the expertise and the time to run Google Ads then you could save money on agency fees.

Is Google Ads really worth it?

Yes! Running effective Google Ads campaigns that create awareness and drive leads and sales is definitely worth it.

Google Ads can be really expensive if not run correctly, there is the real risk of spending lots of money without making a return on ad spend. Make sure you learn how to master Google Ads before starting any campaigns or work with a Google Partner to run campaigns for you.
